Elizabeth founded Project Classical, a 501(c)(3) organization, in 2012 with the mission to support artist led initiatives that encourage public education and appreciation of classical music and arts. Project Classical does this by:
i. identifying innovative ventures by emerging artists and then providing significant support to aid in their success;
ii. creating and providing performance and recording opportunities for emerging and professional artists.
A Seminar Series in Partnership with Barnes & Noble
The Come Find Your Music lecture series was created in the 2011-2012 season as a way to introduce adult audiences to recorded classical works and educate them on the composers, performers, and historical contexts of the recordings. CFYM is a free service dedicated to helping audiences discover recordings they know they will love. Each seminar features four recordings from a cross section of composers, styles, and historical periods. The recordings are professionally chosen, so their quality is guaranteed. Audiences hear sound samples, watch videos of performances and interviews with the musicians, and hear a short lecture that will increase their knowledge and appreciation of the music. Recordings are offered for sale after each lecture.
CFYM gives people exposure to learn what composers, styles, and performers they prefer and gives them the opportunity to become empowered and informed audiences of Classical Music.
Piano Carnival
Distributing Music and Stories for Children of All Ages
Piano Carnival was designed to create an opportunity for children in areas without arts education to discover the world of classical music. The Piano Carnival Project currently exists as an audio recording of poetry and music with an accompanying book of full color illustrations. In an effort to allow for arts education in areas with few resources, Project Classical is working with music teachers to create lesson plans surrounding these materials, and we are distributing all of the associated media available to educators free of charge.
In July, 2013 Project Classical will begin distribution of the Piano Carnival Interactive E-book, which will offer wide audience engagement through its immersive, multi-sensory, interactive presentation. Audiences of all ages will be able to participate with the performances and explore the different media independently or as a combined experience. Technology and new media play a large and ever-increasing role in the lives of young audiences, and our E-book is designed to appeal to tech-savvy young people while offering accessible arts experiences to all ages.
